The Meghalayan Age

We live in the Meghalayan Age. The past 4,200 years of Earth's geological history are officially classified as the Meghalayan Age — evidenced by a stalagmite from the Mawmluh Cave of Meghalaya.

Statehood & Geography

Carved out of Assam on 2nd April, 1970 and declared a full-fledged State on 21st January, 1972. Bounded by Assam, sharing a 423 km international boundary with Bangladesh.

Abode of Clouds

Nature has blessed Meghalaya with virgin forests, high plateaus, tumbling waterfalls and crystal-clear rivers. Shillong, the 'Scotland of the East', offers a picturesque landscape.

Sacred & Dense Forests

Rolling mists in the valleys, undulating hills, numerous lakes, caves, and sacred groves make Meghalaya overwhelmingly beautiful and a favoured tourist destination.

Wettest Spots on Earth

Cherrapunjee (Sohra) and Mawsynram receive the world's heaviest rainfall and are amongst the wettest spots in the World — making Meghalaya a land of abundant rivers and waterfalls.
