Tree Felling Permission outside Shillong
Regulation of Felling Trees in Non-Forest Areas
Permission for felling of trees from non-forest areas, homesteads, or farms may be sought under the provisions of the Meghalaya Tree Preservation Act, 1976 wherever applicable.
In areas falling outside the purview of the said Act, permission shall be obtained strictly as per Rule 6 of the Meghalaya Tree Felling (Non-Forest areas) Rules, 2006.
Application Submission
The formal application, along with all required supporting documents, must be submitted directly to either:
- Divisional Forest Officer (Territorial Division)
- Chief Forest Officer of the respective Autonomous District Council
