Regulation of Felling Trees in Non-Forest Areas
Felling of trees in non-forest lands outside Shillong is regulated under the Meghalaya Felling of Trees (Rules), 2006. Landowners must obtain permission from the concerned Divisional Forest Officer prior to felling trees for commercial timber or personal use.Application Submission
The formal application, along with all required supporting documents, must be submitted directly to either:
- Divisional Forest Officer (Territorial Division)
- Chief Forest Officer of the respective Autonomous District Council
